Celebrate Christmas with a traditional feast!

The Festive season is getting closer and the team at The Lounge at Amaroo are feeling the excitement!

Food is our passion, and there’s no better way to celebrate any major occasion than with a scrumptious feast shared with friends and family.

Across the globe, families are planning their Christmas fare.

In England, for example, families will sit down to Christmas dinner of roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, braised red cabbage, and pureed parsnips, with classic English Trifle and Christmas plum pudding for dessert.

In Iceland the main meal, which they refer to as the ‘Yule meal’, is traditionally a leg of roast lamb; and in Sweden it’s baked ham that graces the table on Christmas day. In Russia, a special porridge or ‘Sochivo’ is served, which is made from wheat or rice and served with honey, fruit, nuts, and seeds.

Australians love to celebrate Christmas with a good meal, and while some might say it’s too hot for a roast at Christmas time, there’s just something magical about a traditional Christmas feast.

The Lounge at Amaroo have gone out of our way to design a special Christmas menu with plenty of options that will make everyone happy!

Our Christmas menu is jam packed full of seasonal goodness and has been created to give you more than a full belly! Your Christmas meal at The Lounge will bring back memories of childhood, and will be the start of new memories as you celebrate with us at our amazing venue!

Bring back memories with a Christmas menu that includes succulent roast turkey, traditional Christmas roasted vegetables, Yorkshire pudding, cranberry and turkey jus.

Be delighted to try something new and unique and tuck into a tantalising Seafood Tortellini with scallops, fish, and prawns. Dine on Morton Bay Bugs with chilli and lime in a white wine sauce; and Halloumi Salad with grilled with pumpkin, ginger, pomegranate, barley and rocket. And enjoy it all with an impeccable selection of wines and cocktails.

When news is this good, we simply must share! The Lounge at Amaroo has recently featured some premium wine varieties from the prestigious Leeuwin Estate Winery. They were received so well by our customers, we decided to permanently incorporate them into our menu!

As a proudly West Australian owned business, The Lounge at Amaroo is always eager to support other West Australian businesses. In this instance, joining with Leeuwin Estate is an honour for us, and a collaboration that we know will be beneficial for all.

Some of the world’s best wines that are produced right here in WA, paired with the finest local produce and an exquisite menu, all enjoyed at Perth’s most stunning hills setting… What could be better?!

A little bit about Leeuwin Estate

Leeuwin Estate is one of the founding wineries of the now famous Margaret River district. Established in 1973, the winery was built on a mission statement to “produce wines that rank with the best in the world through the pursuit of excellence”, which is something they certainly live up to!

Denis and Tricia Horgan purchased farmland in Margaret River in 1969. With the guidance and mentorship of Napa Valley’s Robert Mondavi, who identified the land as ideal to produce premium wine, the Horgan’s set about transforming their cattle farm into Leeuwin Estate.

Winemaking is an art as well as a science; the skills of the winemaker carefully combine with technology to produce the highest quality wines. Today, two generations of the Horgan family produce Leeuwin Estate wines that are acclaimed and enjoyed around the world.

Focus on the wines!

Leeuwin Estate releases its wines under the Art Series, Prelude Vineyards, and Siblings labels. Whilst the wines in each portfolio follow different lives, they all share a place amongst the great wines of Australia and boast extensive international acclaim and attention.

The Lounge at Amaroo is proud to offer five varieties on our menu, including Art Series Riesling, Chardonnay, Shiraz and Sparkling Chardonnay Pinot Noir, as well as the Prelude Cabernet Sauvignon.

This dazzling selection pairs perfectly with our new spring menu and enables us to offer our customers a culinary experience they will not soon forget.

To celebrate the inclusion of Leeuwin Estate wines at the Lounge, we are hosting a special event on Thursday 21^st October.

This unique event will showcase of some of the best offerings from The Lounge’s new spring menu, and each course is perfectly paired with a Leeuwin Estate wine.

This will truly be an experience for the senses as we present a welcome dish and wine, three entrée choices with two wine selections, three mains’ options and two perfect wine accompaniments, two dessert choices with the delightful Art Series Shiraz, and finishing off with a fresh local cheeseboard.

To allow plenty of time for you to truly experience the food and wine at the Lounge, this exclusive event begins at 6pm and is for over 18’s only. Cost is $135pp and bookings can be made through our website.

The change in season impacts our whole world – the weather, the environment around us, what we wear, what we do, and of course what we eat.

The new seasons brings a new selection of seasonal produce, and at Amaroo Retreat & Spa’s award-winning restaurant The Lounge, chefs are making the most of the fresh produce now available to them.

Our chefs stay up to date on the latest food trends and keep on top of seasonal produce, and they are renowned for their creativity and their love of conceiving new and improved dishes. The result is the exciting menu they have put together for our customers this spring.

What’s in season this spring?

Fruits and vegetables that are harvested in season will have much more flavour and will be more nutritious because they have been naturally ripened.

Western Australia has an abundance of fresh locally produced food, and The Lounge is certainly taking advantage of the range available.

Fresh fruits in season this spring include avocadoes, berries, stonefruit and citrus fruits. Green vegetables like beans, broccoli, asparagus and zucchini are in abundance, and root vegetables like beets, carrots, potatoes, sweet potatoes, parsnips, radish, onions, and swedes make for hearty, nutrient-rich dishes.

Local produce and an exquisite seasonal menu make The Lounge at Amaroo a unique dining experience

Nestled on over 50 acres of the Perth Hills bush and well tucked away from street view lays The Lounge at Amaroo, which is Amaroo Retreat & Spa’s high-end restaurant and bar.

An award-winning menu, a stunning location, and an international Head Chef has helped secure our restaurant as one of the best in Perth. And when it comes to our food, there is just nothing better than local produce cooked to perfection!

Our menu

Dining at The Lounge at Amaroo is a treat for the senses. Our menu caters for differing tastes and dietary requirements, with gluten free and dairy free options, plus meals for vegetarian and vegan diners. Our menu is seasonal and relies upon locally grown produce. Best of all, everything we serve is amazingly delicious, and you will surely want to come back again and again to try the entire menu!

Our head chef

Our unique menu is inspired by our Head Chef Surendra Sooriyarathna. Originally from Sri Lanka, Surendra has an extensive cooking career that spans across the globe. He left Sri Lanka to start his international career in Melbourne, then moved on to Perth and travelled up the coast to Port Hedland. His desire to learn more about western and European cuisine saw him make the move to Germany, where he was employed by the Dorint Hotel Group in one of their Michelin Star restaurants.

The Lounge at Amaroo is thrilled to have Surendra in charge of our restaurant and are delighted with everything he creates. When dining with us, you will see his preferred cooking style of modern Australian with French finishes and a touch of Sri Lankan spice!

Our promise

It’s no secret that locally grown food tastes better, but there is also so many other benefits of using local produce in our menu.

Local produce is more nutritious; food loses moisture and nutrients during the transport process and risks becoming spoiled. Using locally grown food contributes to improving our carbon footprint by the fact there is less transportation required and therefore less emissions. And of course, it benefits the local economy, including supporting local farmers and other producers.

The Lounge at Amaroo are committed to providing the highest quality food and drinks on our menu so that our customers can be guaranteed they are always eating well when they visit our restaurant.
